Getting Started

What is SnoreGuard AI?

SnoreGuard AI is an Android app that uses AI to detect snoring in real time and automatically plays soothing masking sounds to help you and your partner sleep undisturbed — completely on-device, no cloud required.

What Android version do I need?

SnoreGuard AI requires Android 8.0 (Oreo) or higher. It works on phones and tablets.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes — SnoreGuard AI is fully offline. The AI model runs on your device and internet is only needed for app updates and subscription verification.

Where should I place my phone?

Place your phone on a bedside table or nightstand 1–2 metres from the snorer, microphone facing the room. Avoid placing it under pillows or directly against walls.

Snore Detection

How accurate is the snore detection?

Detection uses a 17-band log-spaced spectral fingerprint with cosine-similarity scoring. Accuracy improves after the first calibration night as the app learns the specific snore pattern in your bedroom.

Will it be triggered by other sounds — TV, talking, traffic?

A zero-crossing gate filters out speech and most non-snore sounds. Loud, rhythmic snoring is what triggers detection. Occasional false positives may occur in the first night or two.

Does SnoreGuard AI work if I'm the one snoring?

Yes — you can monitor your own snoring by placing the phone near you, or you can monitor a partner's snoring from the other side of the bed.

Sound Masking

What masking sounds are available?

Free: Brown Noise. Premium: Rain, Ocean Waves, White Noise. All sounds play through your phone speaker or connected headphones.

Will the masking sound wake me up?

Masking audio ramps in gradually over about 1.5 seconds — no jarring start. When snoring stops, it fades out within 3 seconds. Most users sleep straight through it.

Can I set the masking volume?

SnoreGuard AI uses your phone's media volume. Adjust it before starting Guard. You can also set a maximum volume cap in Settings.

Headphone Mode

Does SnoreGuard AI work with Bluetooth headphones?

Yes. Connect your Bluetooth headphones before starting Guard. Enable Headphone Mode in Settings for the phase-cancellation path. Wired headphones are also supported.

What is phase-cancellation mode?

Phase-cancellation inverts the 40–800 Hz snore-frequency band and plays it directly to your earphones when a snore is detected. This creates destructive interference, reducing perceived snore noise at your ears.

Privacy & Battery

Does SnoreGuard AI record or upload my audio?

No. Audio frames are analysed in memory and discarded immediately. Nothing is recorded, stored on the device as audio, or uploaded anywhere. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How much battery does it use?

SnoreGuard AI is optimised for overnight use. On a typical phone, an 8-hour session uses 10–20% battery. Keeping Wi-Fi and mobile data off, and using a power-saving display, will reduce consumption further.

How do I delete all my data?

Android Settings → Apps → SnoreGuard AI → Storage → Clear Data. This removes all sleep logs and preferences from your device.

Billing

How do I cancel my Premium subscription?

Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → SnoreGuard AI Premium → Cancel. You retain Premium access until the end of the current billing period.

Can I switch between Monthly and Annual?

Yes — you can upgrade or downgrade your subscription in Google Play. Changes take effect at the next billing date.
